Dvdplayer-core Beta
The day has finally come. The build in dvd player in Xbmc has finally been enabled in the public CVS. It has gone beta and is ready to be fully tested.
Good work guys. And from everyone, Thanks!
Now everyone, get those bug reports in!
The day many of you have been waiting for has finally come; XBMC's built-in DVD-player core is now officially open to the public for general usage. The new dvdplayer-core, which a few of our developers have been working on for almost a year has been enabled in our CVS and is of today the default player for DVD-Video playback in XBMC. Please be patient with it, understand that it can be a bit buggy, it has some limitations, and still needs a lot of work. The basics functions for DVD-Video playback (DVD-menus support) is in there and from now on we will accept (properly formatted) bug-reports from end-users and we will do our best to help users of the player.
Good work guys. And from everyone, Thanks!
Now everyone, get those bug reports in!

looks like a good start.
do you know if there is any way to rename how programs are displayed or how to give xbe's their own icon?
for example, the evox dash program is called remote x. i want to call it xbox live and give it an appopriate icon. it's just a minor detail, but annoying nonetheless.
thanks

BOth of these are covered in the online wiki manual. They're both quite simple really.

I just wanted to start off with the fact that I love XBMC, and it’s kick-ass that guys like you put so much of your time in it. I’ve been a user for over 4 years and never had any problems (never gone any further than creating my own skins tough ;)).
Furthermore, and that’s why I posted here, is there any more info on that built-in DVD player? Because that would truly be awesome. The link given here doesn’t work anymore and I haven’t found another reference.
I hope this still gets read.
Many thanks from Belgium,
Jan
